Forest have completed the signing of exciting German youngster Eric da Silva Moreira on a four-year deal from St. Pauli.
The 18-year-old gave his first interview to Forest TV after putting pen to paper on Trentside...
Eric, welcome to Nottingham Forest, how does it feel to sign for the club?
“I’m really happy to be here, I’m really happy to arrive here with my family as well and I can’t wait to get started.
“I just saw the stadium and it looks great. I’ve also heard a lot about the fans and I’m ready to get started.”
What was it about Nottingham Forest that made you want to sign for the club?
“The incredible stadium, the fans, I heard a lot about the club and there is loads of tradition.
“I just saw the two European Cups and I’m ready to get more!”
Has it always been a dream to play in England and in the Premier League?
“I heard a lot about the league, a lot about many clubs, so I’m very happy to be at Nottingham Forest, especially at a club that has a lot of tradition just like my old club.
“I can’t wait to play football here at The City Ground.”
A first move away from Germany, how excited are you for a new challenge in a new country?
“I’m very excited.
“Me and my family are really happy about this new challenge, and as I said, I can’t wait to get started and get to know the city, the people and everything about the club.”
You come from a big football family, how has that helped your development as a player?
“Yeah, a lot. My cousin also plays in the Premier League, he hasn’t played a lot yet but he said it’s a different level and there are different structures.
“I’m really happy to learn from him and also my uncle, who played professional. It helps a lot.”
For those who may not know too much about you, how would you describe yourself as a player?
“I’m a really fast player who likes to go 1v1 both offensively and defensively.
“I like to be hard in the duels, my opponents will know it.
“I trained as an attacker until I was 16 and then I was put at full-back, so now I’m defensive and offensive as well.”
You arrive having won both the Euros and World Cup at Under 17 level with Germany, how much have those experiences helped you as a player at such an early age?
“It was very special. It’s not a daily thing to win such tournaments, it was really great.
“I love winning and I hope to keep doing so here.”
Finally, what are your hopes and ambitions for your time with the club?
“I want to get as many wins as possible with the boys and get integrated in the squad as soon as possible.”
“I love to be here in the Premier League with Nottingham Forest and I can’t wait to get started.”
