Forest were beaten by a goal to nil by Brighton and Hove Albion at the Amex Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
Nuno Espírito Santo made two changes to the side which lost 1-0 to Liverpool last time out, with Chris Wood and Danilo replacing Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi in the starting line-up.
Brighton made a strong start and had a great chance to open scoring when Jakub Moder's header forced Matz Sels into a good save.
On the half hour though, the hosts did take the lead when an in-swinging corner took a touch off Andrew Omobamidele and found the net.
Forest looked to ignite an immediate response and nearly found a leveller two minutes later when Morgan Gibbs-White played in Divock Origi who saw an effort well saved by Bart Verbruggen.
In the second half, Origi had another opportunity to level the scoring but the forward fired just over from Gibbs-White's through ball.
On 68 minutes, Neco Williams was on the receiving end of a strong challenge by Jakub Moder who was initially shown a second yellow card. VAR checked for serious foul play, but a red card evaded the midfielder.
Forest continued to push and came close again when Gibbs-White floated a ball over the top for Wood whose first time effort was tipped around the post by Verbruggen.
But The Reds were unable to find a late goal, with Brighton claiming all three points on home turf.
