Forest fell to only their second defeat of the Premier League as Newcastle United ran out 3-1 winners at The City Ground.
Nuno Espírito Santo named an unchanged team from the one that beat West Ham United 3-0 last time out, with James Ward-Prowse and Morato reintroduced to the bench.
The Reds took the lead in the 21st minute when Murillo glanced in a header from Anthony Elanga's free-kick for his first Forest goal.
But Newcastle came out stronger in the second half and found a leveller nine minutes after the restart when Alexander Isak fired home from close-range amid a goalmouth scramble.
The game was now even with both sides having chances at either end of the pitch, but it was the Magpies who scored a crucial second goal as Joelinton cut inside and curled an effort into the far corner.
Eddie Howe's side added a third goal on the break with eight minutes remaining, with Harvey Barnes finding the bottom corner to make it 3-1.
