The Reds secure a dominant win on Trentside to claim top spot in the Northern Premier Division.

Head Coach Carly Davies made two changes from the side that started against West Bromwich Albion in the previous fixture as Charlie Wellings and Nat Johnson returned to the starting eleven.

In a positive start to proceedings at The City Ground, the first clear opening fell the way of Hollie Olding as the midfielder met Mel Johnson’s cross but couldn’t direct her shot goalwards.

Forest made the breakthrough in the 16th minute following a goalmouth scramble from a corner kick eventually fell to Kate Longhurst who found the back of the net from close range.

Only six minutes later and the hosts’ lead was doubled when Mel Johnson’s cross into the box deflected into the path of Millie Chandarana to head home.

The Reds were denied a third when Mel Johnson’s effort was cleared off the line as her side pushed to further their lead.

With the tie approaching the interval, Chandarana freed Sophie Domingo down the right channel with an excellent through ball, the latter then found Mel Johnson in the box who forced a brilliant stop from the keeper.

With 53 minutes on the clock the hosts did get their third as Olding tapped home from another scramble in the area.

The following ten minutes saw Carly Davies introduce Amy Sims and Casey Howe to the encounter at The City Ground.

The lead was extended to four when Freya Thomas got her name on the scoresheet with a smart finish to find the bottom corner.

In the closing stages, Bridget Galloway entered the action with the striker almost immediately playing Howe through on goal, only for the Northern Ireland international to be denied a goal thanks to another good stop from the keeper.
