The Reds travelled to New Bucks Head as they faced promotion rivals Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Northern Premier Division.

Carly Davies named the same starting eleven that secured a 7-0 win at The City Ground against Sporting Khalsa as Forest returned to league action following a midweek cup win at Grange Park.

It was a quiet start to the league encounter with neither side creating anything of note at New Bucks Head.

As the match entered its second quarter, Nat Johnson found Sophie Domingo in space down the left channel with the forward whipping a dangerous ball into the area which was cleared for a corner.

The resulting corner kick from Lyndsey Harkin was eventually bundled home by Kate Longhurst, the defender’s first goal for Forest gave the visitor's the lead.

The hosts soon had a three goal advantage ten minutes later following two quickfire goals from Mel Johnson, the first lobbing the keeper from distance and second slotted home from close range.

Four minutes before the interval and Forest had their fourth of the afternoon when Domingo added her name to the scoresheet in a dominant first half display from The Reds.

Wolves worked their best opportunity at goal, moments before the half time whistle when Charlotte Greengrass fired a ball to the onrushing Tammi George, who couldn’t find the target from close range.

Only 20 seconds from kick off and Forest almost extended their lead further when Longhurst dragged her shot wide from the edge of the area.

Within the opening ten of the second half, Johnson had her hat-trick and Forest’s fifth when Charlie Wellings picked out the striker with a cross into the box and the number 9 made no mistake to calmly slot into the top corner.

The hosts pulled one back just before the hour mark when Amber Hughes headed home from an in-swinging cross into the box.

Soon after, Carly Davies looked to her bench as the head coach introduced Amy Sims; then later into the clash Katie Dungate and Hollie Olding entered the action.

With the league tie into the closing stages, substitute Olding fired home a brilliant finish to restore the visitors' five goal advantage.

The final substitution saw Bridget Galloway on with hat-trick hero Johnson making way as The Reds made it four wins from four in 2024/25.
