Forest fell to their first defeat of the Premier League season against Fulham on Saturday afternoon.

The two teams went into the weekend as two of only four sides still unbeaten after five Premier League matches, but it was the Cottagers who came out on top on a sunny Trentside afternoon.

Nuno Espírito Santo named three changes to the side that drew at Brighton and Hove Albion last time out, with the suspended Morgan Gibbs-White missing out alongside Anthony Elanga and Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Replacing the trio were Ryan Yates, Nico Domínguez and Taiwo Awoniyi - the latter partnering Chris Wood in attack within a 4-2-2-2 setup.

In a fairly uneventful opening 45 minutes, Awoniyi nearly found the top corner with an acrobatic effort from close-range, but saw the ball fly just over the crossbar.

Forest were then denied the lead when Chris Wood converted from Nikola Milenković's header across goal, only for VAR to rule the goal out after the ball had been adjudged to have crossed the line.

VAR was to play a part in the game's only goal, however, when two minutes after the restart, Murillo was adjudged to have fouled Andreas Pereira. Raúl Jiménez stepped up and converted from the penalty spot to give Fulham the lead.

Forest thought they had a penalty appeal of their own when Anthony Elanga was seemingly clipped by Calvin Bassey, but nothing was given.

Forest's best chance in the second half came the way of substitute Callum Hudson-Odoi, who drive inside and into the area before firing just over the crossbar.

The Reds had plenty of possession inside the Fulham area with eight minutes added on, but the visitors held on.
