The Reds book their place in the second round of the cup thanks to substitute Domingo’s goal.

Head Coach Carly Davies made seven changes to the starting eleven for the first round tie as new signing Jessica Hennessy made her debut.

Forest made a fast start to the cup tie when Bridget Galloway found the back of the net from Millie Chandarana’s cross but was denied the opener when the flag was raised for offside.

Continuing their press for a goal, it was Chandarana on the ball again, this time picking out Charlie Wellings at the back post; the forward couldn’t find the target.

With the match just past the half hour mark, Galloway came close again as the striker dragged her shot wide of the far post from close range.

Casey Howe fired a volley from within the area over in the closing stages of the first 45 as tie entered the interval goalless.

Ten minutes into the second half and Davies made her first substitutions of the match with captain Lyndsey Harkin and Freya Thomas on for Mollie Green and Hollie Olding.

Nat Johnson was introduced in the 64th minute following an injury for Caragh Hamilton in which the defender was unable to continue.

The Reds continued to dominate possession in the cup tie, pushing to make the breakthrough at the Ground Up Solutions Stadium as forwards Sophie Domingo and Mel Johnson entered the action with just over ten minutes left.

Substitute Domingo made an instant impact when the winger fired home into the top corner from Chandarana’s ball to the back post to finally break the deadlock in the first round tie.
