Anthony Elanga dedicated his goal against Manchester United to the Nottingham Forest supporters after his fifth minute strike secured the three points for the Reds at The City Ground on Tuesday night.

The Forest winger ran 85 metres early into the contest in NG2 before finishing coolly beyond André Onana in what proved to be the decisive goal against the Red Devils.

Roared on by over 30,200 Reds inside The City Ground, Forest saw out the rest of the game by keeping a 13th clean sheet of the season.

Elanga admitted he was happy with his goal before heaping praise onto his teammates for the work they put in across the 90 minutes.

“We played really well today and it was a nice goal from me. I have to say it’s Murillo’s block at the end that’s the star for me, that’s as good as a goal! I’m just happy that we kept a clean sheet and won the game.

“At that moment I was thinking just go for it and test them out. I wanted to get to their goal as quick as I could and once I did, stay composed and I can shoot with either foot. It was about staying composed and hitting the back of the net which I managed to do.

“I did see Morgan (Gibbs-White) but in that moment as a forward you’re not going to play that ball! It was a decent goal to be fair.

“I wanted to thank the Forest fans because they’ve supported me so much this season and last season as well.

“It’s important for us to rest and recover, but it was a fantastic win and we’re so thankful to the fans, we felt the support and they’re our 12th man and it was important tyo have them here.

“It’s credit to all the players that started against Brighton and again today. Tomorrow is all about recovery because we have another big game on Saturday against Villa who are doing well as well.

“We’re all together, it’s something Nuno has instilled in us, we defend together, we attack together. We just have to stay focused on the next game.”
