- Look back at four former Forest & Everton players
- Gerrard, Vellios, Campbell & Garner all feature
- 12 players have played for both clubs
Nottingham Forest welcome Everton to The City Ground in the Premier League this weekend.
Ahead of the match on Trentside, take a look into the history books at four players to have pulled on the Everton jersey, either before or after sporting the Garibaldi of Forest.
Only 12 players have represented both clubs since the clubs were founded in 1865 and 1878 respectively.
Kevin Campbell

The late Kevin Campbell enjoyed standout spells with both Nottingham Forest and Everton during his distinguished 18-year playing career.
After seven seasons with his first club Arsenal, Campbell joined the Reds in 1995, though he initially struggled for consistent form at The City Ground.
Across his first two campaigns Trentside, Campbell netted 11 times in 51 appearances in the Garibaldi.
However, 1997/98 would be a different story for the former Arsenal forward, with 23 goals in 45 appearances in all competitions as the Reds secured the First Division title.
In March 1999, Campbell joined Everton initially on loan, before going on to spend five seasons on Merseyside, registering 50 goals in 160 appearances for the Toffees.
Paul Gerrard
Paul Gerrard joined Everton from Oldham Athletic in 1996 and enjoyed a mixed spell at Goodison Park.
The former Sheffield United ‘keeper played 94 times in Everton colours, keeping 23 clean sheets in his eight years with the Toffees, a spell that included four separate loan spells away from the club.
After joining Forest in the final of those loan spells, Gerrard moved permanently to The City Ground in the summer of 2004 before ending his time with the Reds with 80 appearances and 27 clean sheets.
Gerrard left The City Ground in 2006, before joining Sheffield United for the 2006/07 season.
James Garner

Currently on Everton’s books, James Garner needs no introduction to Forest fans.
Garner spent the second half of the 2020/21 campaign on loan at The City Ground from Manchester United, before rejoining on a season-long loan deal in 2021/22.
The former Watford loanee would make 49 appearances across the campaign, but more crucially, it was his strike in the Championship play-off final that would force a Levi Colwill own-goal to secure Forest’s return to the Premier League.
After his exploits at The City Ground, Garner joined Everton permanently in the summer of 2022, remaining with the Toffees since.
Apostolos Vellios
The former Greece international moved to English football with Everton from Iraklis, as the Toffees won the race for his signature.
Across his three years on Merseyside, Vellios struggled to retain a regular place in the starting XI at Goodison Park with the former Blackpool loanee making 24 appearances in Everton colours, finding the back of the net three times and laying on two assists for his teammates.
After two years on the continent, Vellios joined Forest in 2016, going on to score eight times across 45 appearances in the Garibaldi.
Before the 2018/19 campaign, Vellios would leave The City Ground initially on loan before leaving the club at the end of his contract in 2019.
