The Reds are now only 4 points away from securing the Northern Premier Division title following a dominant display on the road.

Forest Women travelled to Merseyside in their penultimate away fixture of the 2024/25 campaign with Liverpool Feds the opponents on Sunday afternoon.

Head coach Carly Davies made three changes from the side that started against Hull City two weeks ago with Kate Longhurst, Sophie Domingo and Millie Chandarana returning to the starting eleven.

The visitors started on the front foot at Jericho Lane with Chandarana having an early opportunity at goal when the midfielder’s header was saved at the near post.

Forest continued to create chances in the search for the opening goal, Chandarana and Longhurst both saw their attempts go amiss.

The Reds did take the lead in the 26th minute when Charlie Wellings set up Nat Johnson to strike at goal from the edge of the area and the defender confidently fired home the opening goal.

It was a quickfire double in Liverpool as three minutes later and Forest had their second when Wellings’ corner kick was cleared only as far as Melissa Johnson to find the back of the net with a smart finish.

Captain Lyndsey Harkin almost scored the third with a brilliant strike from wide which was well saved to deny the defender her first goal of the season.

Wellings got her name on the scoresheet, finding the target with a composed finish within the area to extend the visitors’ advantage to three.

Forest scored their fourth goal in just 14 minutes at Jericho Lane when Sophie Domingo, through in space in the box, squared it to Melissa Johnson to slot home her second of the afternoon.

HALF TIME: Liverpool Feds 0-4 Nottingham Forest

The Reds started the second half as they ended the first with Melissa Johnson charging down the Liverpool Feds keeper to score her hat-trick.

Carly Davies made her first substitution of the clash introducing Naomi Bedeau in defence with Mollie Green making way.

With the hour mark fast approaching Forest scored their sixth of the encounter as Domingo was again the provider, this time for Wellings to net her second of the day.

Two further changes saw Millie Chandarana and goalscorer Nat Johnson exit, with Holly Manders and Amy Sims entering the action.

Forest bagged their seventh and Johnson’s fourth following brilliant link up play between Wellings and substitute Sims with the latter then finding striker Johnson in the area to find the net again.

In the closing stages of the tie, Caragh Hamilton and Katie Dungate were introduced for forwards Sophie Domingo and Charlie Wellings.
