Nottingham Forest’s B Team were placed in Group A of the Premier League International Cup in August’s draw, pitting the Reds against Dinamo Zagreb, Valencia, Ajax and AS Monaco.

Warren Joyce’s side welcomed Zagreb to Loughborough University on September 25 in the Reds’ competition curtain-raiser.

After a goalless first 45 dominated by Forest, three second half goals from Connor Brown, Jack Nadin and Adam Berry rounded off a perfect start to the competition for the Reds with a 3-0 win.

Next up in Loughborough was the visit of Spanish side Valencia, where the Reds’ resilience over the 90 minutes was broken in the final moments of the contest.

Substitute Perez Del Amo’s goal three minutes from time was the difference between the sides on the night, but Forest would quickly bounce back with Ajax travelling to Loughborough in mid-November.

The Reds stood firm in the opening 45 minutes despite some intense pressure from the Dutch side, before Forest started to play their way into the game towards the end of the half.

With eight minutes left on the clock, and a goalless draw looking set to be the final outcome, Jack Nadin tapped Forest into the lead from a Joe Gardner cutback to put the Reds on six points from their first three matches with just the visit of Monaco to come.

Three first half goals put Forest in the driving seat with Fin Back, Nadin, and Eric da Silva Moreira all finding the back of the Monaco net.

The visitors did pull a goal back in the second half through Etonde, but the points, and progress to the knockout phase was already secured for Joyce’s side.

Forest progressed from Group A in second place behind Valencia, with Nordsjælland next up for the Reds in the quarter finals.

Da Silva Moreira’s brace gave Forest a strong foothold in the game before the visitors reduced the deficit with three minutes left at Loughborough. Progress to the semi-finals confirmed.

And so to the visit of Bilbao to NG2, the Reds welcome the Basque club on Tuesday evening with a place in the final at stake.
