Victory on the road sees Forest extend their lead to three points with just one game remaining in the 2024/25 season.

The Reds travelled to the War Memorial Athletic Ground as they faced bottom side Stourbridge in the Northern Premier Division.

Head coach Carly Davies made one change from the side that started against Liverpool Feds with Holly Manders returning to the eleven.

Forest started on the front foot with Melissa Johnson having a great opportunity to open the scoring when through on goal the striker rounded Grimshaw in goal, but the keeper did well to recover and deny the visitors.

The Reds continued to pile the pressure on Stourbridge as Lyndsey Harkin’s cross was met by Manders at the near post; the midfielder couldn’t direct her strike goalwards.

The deadlock was broken by Reds’ top scorer Charlie Wellings as the forward picked up the ball of the edge of the area and found the back of the net with a composed finish.

It was almost a quickfire double for Forest as straight after the restart Sophie Domingo dragged her shot just wide of the far post.

Manders marked her return to the starting eleven with a goal as the midfielder slotted home Forest’s second of the afternoon.

Soon after Carly Davies’ side had their third of the clash when Hollie Olding headed home from Wellings’ corner kick.

Mollie Green was denied a stunning free kick when Grimshaw pulled off an excellent save to keep the score to three-nil as the encounter entered the interval.

HALF-TIME: Stourbridge 0-3 Nottingham Forest

In a quiet start to the second half, neither side created an opportunity of note with Forest making a double substitution as Millie Chandarana and Caragh Hamilton entered.

The Reds’ lead was extended to four when Wellings’ strike was saved straight into the path of forward Domingo to slot home.

Forest could’ve had their fifth when Wellings’ corner kick found substitute Hamilton in the area, but the defender couldn’t connect.

Another change saw Amy Sims introduced, moments before Carly Davies was forced into a change when Chandarana couldn’t continue. Megan Bell replaced the midfielder with Bridget Galloway subbed on during the stoppage.
