First half goals from Elliot Anderson and Chris Wood were enough for Nottingham Forest to claim a first ever win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium against Tottenham Hotspur.

The Reds raced into a 2-0 lead within the first 20 minutes in North London, with Wood seeing another ruled out for offside in the first half, before Richarlison halved the deficit on 87 minutes.

Forest return to third in the Premier League ahead of next weekend’s Emirates FA Cup semi-final against Manchester City.

The Reds settled quickly in North London and opened the scoring on five minutes through Anderson’s second goal in the Garibaldi.

After the home side cleared an Anthony Elanga corner, Anderson returned the ball goalwards with interest, beating Vicario and give Forest lift off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Forest's lead was almost doubled when Wood poked Anderson’s delivery into the net, only for VAR to rule the goal out moments later for offside.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side continued to press Spurs, looking like scoring every time they crossed the halfway line.

Forest had their second on 16 minutes with Wood this time getting his name on the scoresheet.

From Elanga’s cross, the New Zealand international beat Vicario to the ball, heading beyond the Spurs ‘keeper to double Forest’s advantage.

The home side struggled to work Matz Sels at the other end of the field, going closest when Mathys Tel’s drive was pushed away by the Belgian stopper to preserve Forest’s two-goal advantage at half-time.

Half time: Tottenham Hotspur 0-2 Forest

Forest looked comfortable in the second half with the home side struggling to create chances against a resolute Forest backline.

Morgan Gibbs-White fired just wide after being picked out by Wood, before Toffolo acrobatically cleared the ball off the line from Kulusevski’s flicked header just after the hour mark.

Sels was quick off his line to deny Richarlison on 67 minutes before the Brazil forward headed beyond Sels with three minutes remaining of the 90 to halve the deficit.

The home side struggled to create any further clear chances with Nuno’s side looking to catch Spurs on the counter in the final moments before the final whistle sounded and Forest had their points.

The Reds are third once more in the Premier League table ahead of an FA Cup semi-final against next weekend.
