Forest Netball claimed our third win of the season with a commanding 74–60 victory over Leeds Rhinos. After a closely contested first half, the Reds pulled ahead with sharp defence, key interceptions, and confident shooting—finishing strong to secure a well-deserved win.
First Quarter
Forest started the quarter on the hunt for goals, with quick, strategic feeds from their centre passes straight into shooting opportunities. They maintained strong and direct centre pass play, setting themselves in key positions and creating the space needed to transition goals smoothly. The Reds held a solid defence against the Rhinos’ attacking force, matching their energy in a high-pressure, goal-for-goal battle. In the final moments of the quarter, the Rhino defenders stepped up, challenging Forest’s flow and securing the first super shot of the game. They capitalized on their turnover opportunities, pulling ahead and ending the first quarter with a 19–12 lead for Leeds Rhinos.
Second Quarter
The Rhinos came out confident and strong in the second quarter, but Forest stepped up their defensive efforts, making it harder for Leeds to break through. A crucial interception from the Forest GK led to a goal, and the team began to find rhythm through high, long passes across the court to Rolene Streutker, who converted well. Hannah Leighton made a key interception, turning it into another Forest goal. With four turnovers secured this quarter, Forest began to look livelier. Streutker missed a super shot opportunity but bounced back, sinking two in quick succession. Despite a strong quarter, Leeds Rhinos held onto their lead going into half time, 31–29.
Third Quarter
During the break, Forest made tactical changes, with Iona Christian stepping into the circle to replace captain Cooper—adding depth and speed to the attack. Both teams brought intensity, trading interceptions and defensive stops. Jayda Pechova stood out with clear, crucial interceptions for Forest. The Reds picked up their energy and began to push for the draw. Their strong attacking play paid off, and with just over five minutes left in the quarter, Forest pulled ahead by four points. Streutker, the South African international, dominated the super shot moments. Leeds lost out on key scoring chances due to errors and rebounds secured by Forest’s defence. The Reds' fire and momentum carried them to a 55–44 lead by the end of the quarter.
Fourth Quarter
Forest kept the momentum going while the Rhinos struggled to connect their passes into the circle. Leeds found it difficult to break through Forest’s relentless defence. Seamless transitions from the centre to the circle continued, with Christian playing a vital role through quick feeds and interceptions. Natasha Pavelin fought hard in the circle, making the most of every rebound and intercept opportunity. It was a back-and-forth match throughout, but in the final moments, the Rhinos fell short on their last goal attempt. Forest Netball sealed their third win of the season with a final score of 74–60. Nottingham Forest’s own Tash Pavelin was named Player of the Match.
