Forest recorded their biggest victory since the 1997/98 season with a 7-0 win over Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday afternoon.
Looking for a response to the result away at Bournemouth, Nuno made two changes to the starting eleven, Danilo and Morato coming in to replace Ryan Yates and Jota Silva, and a returning Ibrahim Sangaré named on the bench.
Forest made the breakthrough shortly after the ten-minute mark, Danilo, returning to Premier League action for the first time since August, playing in Morgan Gibbs-White, who fizzed a ball across the face of goal from the right and forced Lewis Dunk to prod into his own net.
The Reds doubled their lead shortly after, with Anthony Elanga delivering a corner to the near post, where Gibbs-White arrived to loop the ball past Bart Verbruggen, securing his second goal involvement of the afternoon on his 100th appearance for the Club.
Elanga was then provider again, as he raced away down the right flank and floated a cross up to an unmarked Chris Wood at the far post, who headed down past Verbruggen to make it 3-0.
Danny Welbeck then forced Matz Sels into a spectacular save, as the Brighton forward’s powerful effort on goal was tipped onto the crossbar superbly by Forest’s ‘keeper and the rebound was collected calmly.
The Reds went into the break with a 3-0 lead, with the visitors threatening in the final stages of the first half, but unable to get past a resolute Forest defence.
HALF TIME: Forest 3-0 Brighton
Brighton came out for the second half pushing to reduce the deficit, forcing the Forest defence to hold firm, but after 64 minutes, the hosts scored again to extend their lead to four.
A similar story to the third goal, Elanga registered his third assist of the game, darting away down the right wing and squaring across the face of goal for Chris Wood to score his second of the afternoon.
The Reds then had an opportunity to make it five as Gibbs-White was brought down in the box by Lamptey, and Chris Wood made no mistake from the spot, sending Verbruggen the wrong way and securing the first hat-trick at the City Ground in the Premier League for a Forest player since 1987.
As the clock ticked towards the final whistle, Sels still had work to do, tipping over Matthew O’Riley’s whipped free kick from just outside the box.
Neco Williams then got himself on the scoresheet, making it six for the Reds as he fired home as the ball rebounded back from freshly introduced Ibrahim Sangare’s initial effort that was blocked inside the six-yard box.
Seconds after nine additional minutes were announced, Jota Silva latched onto a poor pass out from the back by Verbruggen and bared down on goal before firing through the ‘keeper’s legs to make it seven.
This phenomenal performance from the Reds keeps them third in the Premier League, returning to action on Tuesday in the FA Cup against Exeter, before a visit to Craven Cottage to face Fulham in the Premier League in a week's time.
