Forest fell to defeat at Craven Cottage on Saturday afternoon as Fulham ran out 2-1 winners in the capital.
Chris Wood's 18th Premier League goal of the season was cancelled out by goals in either half from Emile Smith Rowe and Calvin Bassey as Marco Silva's side claimed all three points.
Nuno Espírito Santo named an unchanged side from the one that beat Brighton 7-0 last time out in the Premier League, with Callum Hudson-Odoi returning to the squad following a short spell out through injury.
But despite a positive opening to the game, Forest fell behind inside 15 minutes, as Smith Rowe found himself on the end of Adama Traoré's cross to head home at the far post.
The hosts nearly added a second goal soon after, but Raúl Jiménez's snapshot was superbly turned around the post for a Fulham corner.
With minutes of the half remaining, Forest drew level. Morgan Gibbs-White's long ball forward was controlled by Wood, who composed himself before curling the ball into the bottom corner via a slight deflection.
HALF TIME: Fulham 1-1 Forest
With the game evenly poised at the break, both teams looked to find a decisive second goal to put themselves ahead in a tense encounter.
The Reds had Sels to thank again as he made a smart save to deny Saša Lukić, who managed to get a shot away from close range but saw his effort put behind for a corner.
From that corner though, Jiménez's flick-on found Bassey in space at the back post, with the defender heading back across goal and into the far corner to put the hosts back in front.
Nuno began to freshen things up, with Ibrahim Sangaré replacing Danilo and Morato making way for Hudson-Odoi - a change in formation as Forest looked to push for a late equaliser.
Hudson-Odoi may have levelled things up for Forest following good work from Ola Aina to keep momentum alive, but the winger's effort on the angle was comfortably held by Bernd Leno in the Fulham goal.
The Reds enjoyed plenty of possession in the final third as they pushed for a late leveller, but Fulham were to hold onto all three points.
