Nottingham Forest is delighted to have agreed a new long-term contract with Murillo.

The young defender, who joined in August 2023 and has gone on to make over 50 appearances for the Club, has signed an extension keeping him on Trentside until the summer of 2029.

Murillo joined Forest from Corinthians as a relatively unknown young prospect and made his debut against Brentford in October 2023, five weeks after his arrival. Since then, he has been a key player at the heart of the Forest defence and was named the Club’s Player of the Season in his first year in the Premier League.

A combative, skilful defender who is comfortable on the ball, the Brazilian quickly became a fan favourite. His form has continued into the current campaign and aside from at Goodison Park, Murillo has played every minute in the Premier League so far. His performances have seen him recognised by the national team and he earned his first international call-up in November last year.

Murillo’s flair has seen him come close to scoring world-class goals, and shortly after being named in the Brazil squad, he opened his account for Forest with a powerful header against Newcastle. At the other end of the pitch, the partnership formed with Milenkovic has been a key factor in the team’s good form this season. The 18 clearances he made against Liverpool at The City Ground was the most by any player in the Premier League this season. As a defensive unit, Forest have registered nine clean sheets so far, the most in the division.

Everyone at the Club would like to pass on their congratulations to Murillo for the new deal and wish him the very best for the rest of the season and beyond.

On signing the extension, Murillo said: "I’m very thankful and very happy that there are four more years to come. I’m thankful to everyone for the support – not just to me, but to my family as well.

"Everywhere I go, every shop, wherever it is, they treat my family and I really well. So, I’m very grateful for everything they do for myself and for the team.

"I’m sure that we’ve got a big future in front of us."

Owner Evangelos Marinakis said: "We dream big, and so does he. He believes in the power of what we are doing at this great Club. When we share the same bold ambitions, there is no limit to what we can achieve together.”
