Nottingham Forest is delighted to announce the loan signing of Sophie Haywood.

The forward joins the Club on loan for the remainder of the 2024/25 season from Women’s Championship side Newcastle United.

Haywood is well-experienced in England’s top two tiers having played for Sheffield United and Aston Villa as well as this season with Newcastle.

Forest’s new number 19 also enjoyed a successful college career whilst living in the United States, representing both South Alabama Jaguars and East Texas State Lions during her time across the pond.

Nottingham Forest Women Head Coach, Carly Davies, added: “We are delighted to welcome Sophie to the Club. I worked with Sophie during my time at Aston Villa; she comes with Championship and Super League experience having won promotion during the 2019-20 Championship campaign.

“Firstly, she is a wonderful person with bags of personality and character. She will fit straight into the dressing room bringing both her infectious personality and vast experiences to the group.

“An exceptionally hard working forward, she thrives in pressured games and has a tenacious approach to how she plays. She will add real fire power to our already strong group of forwards.”

Upon signing, Haywood said: “I’m excited to be here and hopefully hit the ground running. I just love what the Club is about, the ambition and the aim; I’m excited to be a part of that.

“I’d like to add goals to this team, I’m happy to play whatever role Carly sees fit, I just want to help contribute to that goal of promotion ultimately and whatever way that comes I will be happy as long as that’s achieved.”
