Forest 2-1 Ipswich | 14/04/2018
Drama is a recurrence when Forest welcome Ipswich Town to The City Ground, and April 2018 proved no different with two goals in as many minutes securing the win for the Reds.
After a first half when Forest had the better of the chances, the visitors took the lead on 38 minutes when Grant Ward headed Myles Kenlock’s cross into the net despite the best efforts of Costel Pantilimon in the Forest goal.
The away side had the better of the second half chances and could have extended their lead with both Luke Hyam and Mustafa Carayol both firing wide from inside the Forest box.
But the Reds pulled themselves level on 89 minutes when Ben Brereton was fouled by Ward in the box just a minute from time. Brereton stepped up himself to level the scores from the penalty spot, but Forest weren't finished there.
Five minutes into added time and Brereton turned provider for Joe Lolley to hook the ball into the net. Cue wild celebrations in NG2 and three points for the Reds.
Forest 1-0 Ipswich | 05/03/2013
A feisty encounter at a foggy City Ground was settled with just six minutes remaining to edge the Reds closer to the Championship play-off places.
Ipswich’s Lee Martin was sent off in the first half following a coming together with Henri Lansbury directly in front of the referee after just winning a free-kick for the Tractor Boys.
Despite the numerical advantage, Forest struggled to find a way past the resilient visitors, but with 20 minutes remaining, and the visibility remaining low, Ipswich were reduced to nine players.
After being shown a yellow card early in the first half, Richard Stearman knocked Andy Reid off the ball and was given his marching orders.
The visitors packed the defence and midfield with hopes of holding on for a point, but with six minutes remaining, a hefty deflection gave the Reds the breakthrough.
Lewis McGugan let fly from distance with the deflection wrong-footing Stephen Henderson in the Ipswich goal to secure the three points for Forest.
Forest 3-2 Ipswich | 19/11/2011
Forest twice came from behind to secure a dramatic three points against Ipswich in 2011 with two goals in the final six minutes enough for the three Championship points.
Ipswich opened the scoring with 25 minutes on the clock when Danny Collins headed Aaron Cresswell’s free-kick home to rise the tensions around NG2.
The Reds were level just before half-time when Marcus Tudgay was first to Lewis McGugan’s free-kick, heading the ball into Robbie Findley’s path. The American forward did the rest to send the sides in on level terms at the break.
Momentum should have been with the Reds thereafter with Forest looking for a fourth win in six games going into the match, but it was the away side who regained the lead just after the hour mark.
Collins met a Jimmy Bullard corner to put the visitors ahead once more, but the drama wasn’t finished just yet.
Andy Reid’s sumptuous delivery was headed home by Joel Lynch for his first goal in Forest colours with six minutes remaining of the 90.
Just seven minutes later and one minute into added time, the Reds went ahead for the first time in the match when Tudgay headed Greg Cunningham’s cross beyond David Stockdale to send The City Ground home delighted with another three points secured.
Forest 3-0 Ipswich Town | 10/04/2010
Forest welcomed Ipswich to The City Ground in 2010 full of optimism and looking for a 16th home in from our last 18 home matches.
Roy Keane’s Tractor Boys had the better of the first half in NG2, notable Daryl Murphy going closest to opening the scoring when Lee Camp was called into action to keep out his low drive, and David Norris seeing an effort cleared off the line by Kelvin Wilson.
But just two minutes into the second half, the Reds had their breakthrough.
Robert Earnshaw’s strike from the edge of the Trent End box deflected off the in-luck Luke Chambers to wrong foot Brian Murphy in the Town goal and put Forest on course for a classy victory.
10 minutes later saw Forest net the second of the afternoon when Chris Gunter’s low cross found its way to Guy Moussi to slip the ball under Murphy at the second attempt.
With 14 minutes remaining at The City Ground, Earnshaw got himself on the scoresheet for Forest’s third, sweeping the ball into the net after seeing his effort on goal moments earlier parried away by Murphy.
