Nuno Espírito Santo expressed his delight at Nottingham Forest’s progress in the Emirates FA Cup after the Reds secured their place in the quarter finals following a 5-4 penalty shoot-out win over Ipswich Town at The City Ground.

The tie went the distance in following a 1-1 draw between the two sides after a gruelling 120 minutes in NG2, where Matz Sels denied Jack Taylor from 12 yards to win the tie for the Reds.

Forest will travel to Brighton & Hove Albion in the quarter finals of the competition, with the tie set for the weekend of March 29/30.

But reflecting on the tie this evening, Nuno admitted he was nervous for the shoot-out but happy to see his side progress to the next round.

“The penalties were so good and the players did their jobs quite well.” Nuno told Forest TV.

“It’s positive for us to go through and proceed our journey.

“We know these games can go to penalties; the preparation was good. It’s just a moment of concentration and focus and do what you practise, and they did quite well.

“We controlled the game, we were dominant, we created chances and the goal we conceded was against the flow of the game.

“The reaction was really good and we had many chances to win the game before we did, but it’s so good to proceed in the FA Cup for the club. It’s massive for us.”
