Nottingham Forest secured three Premier League points against the champions Manchester City in the lunchtime kick-off at The City Ground thanks to a solitary strike from Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The Forest winger planted the ball beyond Ederson with seven minutes remaining in NG2 after earlier striking the post in a second half of relentless pressure from Nuno Espírito Santo’s side.
The Reds opened up a four-point gap over City in the Premier League table ahead of a trip to Ipswich Town next weekend.
City enjoyed the better chances in the opening 45 minutes, almost opened the scoring on seven minutes when Erling Haaland pulled his effort just side of Matz Sels’ lef-hand post.
Seven minutes later and the visitors were on the hunt for the opening goal once more when Nicolás González tried his effort from outside the box, only to see the ball fly wide of goal.
Forest enjoyed plenty of possession in the City half without testing truly testing Ederson.
With half-time approaching, Jérémy Doku had City’s final shot of the half, with Sels comfortably holding the strike from the edge of the box.

Nuno’s Reds came flying out of the blocks at the start of the second half with Morgan Gibbs-White volleying straight at Ederson and being picked out by Anthony Elanga.
The Reds’ pressuring on the visitors’ goal was consistent and on 66 minutes Forest created the chance of game so far.
After patient build-up, Callun Hudson-Odoi cut in from the left and sent a stinging shot towards the bottom right corner only for Ederson to just touch the ball onto the post before City cleared their lines.
Forest maintained the pressure on the champions until with just seven minutes remaining Trentside, the Reds found their breakthrough.
Gibbs-White’s stunning cross field pass picked out the outstanding, Hudson-Odoi who raced into the City box and placed the ball perfectly into the Trent End net to send The City Ground wild.
The Reds defended gallantly in the final minutes at The City Ground, securing our first win over City since returning to the Premier League in 2022.
