Nuno Espírito Santo highlighted the organisation and control his Nottingham Forest side had on the game for praise after the Reds’ 4-2 win against Ipswich Town this afternoon.

Forest netted three times in seven minutes in the first half thanks to goals from Nikola Milenković and an Anthony Elanga brace to take control of the game of Portman Road.

The home side pulled one back through Jens Cajuste before Jota netted Forest’s fourth with minutes remaining. George Hirst made it 4-2 in added time.

Nuno wanted his side to be alert from the off in Suffolk, and the Head Coach was pleased with the way Forest started the match.

“It was a very good performance overall, we were organised and in control of the game. It’s difficult being away from home at a team like Ipswich being so intense and aggressive.

“We were able to control the game and we had a good spell in the first half and we took advantage of the talented players we have as well as Ipswich being unbalanced in some moments.

“The message at the beginning of the game was to be compact, realise that Ipswich are strong at home and they’re a team that tends to score quickly.

“After that we controlled possession, we had good movement with the ball, we were able to unbalance Ipswich and score beautiful goals.

Elanga’s brace in just four minutes at the end of the first half put Forest in a commanding position going into half-time, and Nuno expressed his delight with the Forest winger’s performance and goals.

“I’m delighted for Anthony, he’s been helpful all season, not only with the goals but the defensive work. When he’s able to isolate players one v one he’s unstoppable.

“He’s versatile to play in all the frontal positions and we want all of our players to exploit the opposition. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t but today we are happy.”
