Chris Wood netted his second hat-trick in as many games for New Zealand on Friday to help put his country on the brink of FIFA World Cup qualification.
The striker scored three goals in the All Whites' comprehensive 7-0 win over Fiji, meaning that a win over New Caledonia on Monday night will secure direct entry to the 2026 World Cup.
All three of Wood's goals were headers, with his first coming inside six minutes, finding himself on the end of Sarpreet Singh’s cross to break the deadlock.

Singh, Tim Payne and Forest's January arrival Tyler Bindon - currently on loan at Reading - added three more goals before the break to ensure a four-goal cushion at half-time.
Then, a quickfire double from Wood, coming from two Payne crosses on 56 and 60 minutes, completed the hat-trick for the striker, who was then replaced shortly after.
That's now ten goals in Wood's last five games for New Zealand, including a hat-trick in his previous outing for the All Whites - an 8-0 win over Samoa in November.
