Nottingham Forest’s international stars have been in action across the globe late last week and over the weekend with the international period now over halfway through.

Chris Wood’s New Zealand became the second nation to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup following a 3-0 win against New Caledonia in the OFC final earlier this morning.

The Forest forward netted a hat-trick for the All Whites to take his international tally to 34 goals in the 7-0 semi-final win over Fiji.

Wood played 54 minutes in the final before being withdrawn early in the second period in Auckland.

Ola Aina earned his 40th cap for Nigeria in the Super Eagles 2-0 World Cup qualifier against Rwanda on Friday evening.

Nigeria face Zimbabwe tomorrow (March 25, kick-off 4pm), sitting fifth in Group C but just four points behind South Africa who top the group.

Chris Wood - New Zealand

Ibrahim Sangaré rose from the substitutes bench in the Ivory Coast’s 1-0 World Cup qualifier against Burundi on Friday, while Willy Boly was an unused substitute.

Côte d’Ivoire face Gambia in Group F this evening (kick-off 7pm) where three points would see the Elephants move top of the group.

In South America, Ramón Sosa started in Paraguay’s 1-0 win against Chile last Thursday, a result that moved La Albirroja up to fifth in the COMNEBOL World Cup qualifying table.

Paraguay travel to Colombia on Wednesday in their final match of the current international period.

Neco Williams was in action for Wales as the Dragons recorded a 3-1 win against Kazakhstan to maintain their place at the top of Nations League B Group C on Saturday.

Wales face North Macedonia tomorrow night (kick-off 7.45pm) in their final match of current international period.

Anthony Elanga earned his 20th cap for Sweden in their 1-0 friendly defeat to Luxembourg on Saturday. Blågult welcome Northern Ireland to Sweden tomorrow (March 25, kick-off 6pm).

In Belgium, after remaining on the bench in the Red Devils’ 3-1 loss against Ukraine, Matz Sels played the full 90 minutes in the second leg as his side netted three times in the final 15 minutes to retain their place in League A of the Nations League.

In similar style, Nikola Milenković didn’t play for Serbia in their 1-1 draw with Austria last week, before earning his 64th international cap in yesterday’s 2-0 second leg win to maintain the Eagles’ spot in League A.

Down the age groups, Elliot Anderson started for England Under-21s against France on Friday evening. The Young Lions face Portugal this evening (kick-off, 7.45pm) at The Hawthorns in their second friendly of the international spell.

Zach Abbott has played the full 90 minutes in both of England Under-19s UEFA Euro Under-19s Championship qualifiers so far, with the Young Lions seeing off Wales 2-0 last Wednesday before drawing 0-0 with Turkey on Saturday.

England face Portugal tomorrow (March 25, kick-off 7pm) with top spot in Group G up for grabs.

At the same age range, Eric da Silva Moreira helped Germany U19s to successive wins against Slovenia and Finland to secure the top spot in Group F for now, with Ireland their next opponents tomorrow (March 25, kick-off 2pm).

Murillo - Brazil

Morgan Gibbs-White was not involved in England’s 2-0 World Cup qualifier against Albania on Friday but could earn his third international cap this evening when the Three Lions welcome Lativa to Wembley.

Murillo was an unused substitute in Brazil’s 2-1 COMNEBOL World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Friday evening but could earn his first international cap tomorrow morning (March 25, kick-off 12am) with Argentina Canarinho’s opponents.
